HIV care services in San Antonio

Alamo Area Resource Center (AARC) was founded in 1990 to meet the needs of individuals who are homeless, disabled or facing life challenging illnesses, including but not limited to HIV/AIDS in Bexar County and surrounding areas. The Health Equity Clinic includes medical providers, psychiatrists, social workers, mental health counselors, housing specialists, and supportive services.

Beat “Black Effort Against the Threat” of AIDS Coalition is a community based non profit organization with 28 years of experience working with underserved members of the community. It is also the first African American led HIV/AIDS service agency in Bexar and surrounding counties to provide preventative and supportive services through Your Choice Clinic.

El Centro del Barrio (CDB), which began doing business as CentroMed in 2001, was founded in 1971. The Ryan White program, which provides early intervention services for people recently diagnosed with HIV infection, was begun in 1992. CentroMed services include HIV medical care, PrEP and PEP, nutrition services and behavioral health.

The San Antonio AIDS Foundation (SAAF) is a nonprofit corporation founded in 1986 by Robert Edwards, a local bar owner who responded to the medical and social crisis of the AIDS epidemic. SAAF is the oldest and most comprehensive  organization to provide services for those affected by HIV/AIDS in Bexar County and 11 surrounding counties. SAAF houses an outpatient clinic- The Care Clinic and onsite pharmacy- ASP Cares.

The San Antonio Metro Health District STD/HIV Program provides testing and treatment for most sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) in their mobile unit available to travel throughout San Antonio. Other services within the program include HIV testing, community mobilization and linkage to care services. In addition, case management services are offered to pregnant women for the prevention of congenital syphilis births.

The Kind Clinic was founded in 2015 with the vision of providing sexual wellness and health for all. Since then, we have become a leader in providing Central Texans access to PrEP, PEP, STI Testing and Treatment, HIV Testing and Care, Gender Care, and Telekind, our Telehealth service. Kind Clinic strives to deliver measurable impact for its community by providing state-of-the-art sexual health services to all people, regardless of race, creed, gender, or sexual orientation, without judgment or stigma.

Family-Focused  AIDS Clinical Treatments Services (FFACTS) is a University Health outpatient HIV/AIDS clinic funded in part by the Ryan White Treatment and Modernization Act. FFACTS partners with outside agencies to assist patients with needs such as transportation and housing.
